Content/scope/style: This is a book by beloved author Eric Carle which can be used both as a counting book as well as an engineered book. In it, the author takes children through the transformation of a caterpillar from an egg to a beautiful butterfly. Quality picture as well as smart use of familiar food and humor are sure to engage the children and hold their attention through these different phases including egg, caterpillar, cocoon, and finally butterfly.

Content/scope/style/potential audience: In this simple, vocal, and beautifully drawn book, well known children's author Roald Dahl, engages children's sight and hearing to teach about animal sounds. Using alliteration, funny exagerated pictures and the elements of surprise, this book is sure to keep children's interest from page 1 to page 16. The reference to flying cows is a nice addition and refers to Margaret Wise Brown "Good night moon".
Quality: very good. Audience: 0-3 yrs

c/Short Evaluation: content/scope/style: In this beautifully embossed bood, author Jillian Harher addresses the topics friendship and difference. Using beautifully decorated natural settings, vibrant colors, and animals that are at ease each on land, in the air and in the water, she stresses that although each have different skills, abilities, and limitations, they are all lucky in that they have each other. Through repetition and questionings, this book is sure to hold children attention until they realize that " we are all lucky".

Quality/Audience: This is a good book and is designed for 2-4 yrs old who are starting to be self aware.
