Reflection on LIS 776

Image
Looking Back, Looking Ahead Source Image: Tiny Budda It has been quite an adventure. I don't know about you, but it took me a lot of courage to sign up for this MLIS and particularly for the emerging technologyies aspect of it. I grew up in the software era and was entirely intimitated by the digital world. Don't get me wrong! I do appreciate that we live in a century in which  you can easily communicate with people who are far away, and this can be done instantly. As a foreigner who still has family ties in other countries and other continents and a mother to a college student, I am very grateful for the technological advances that we enjoy in this century.  However, I also quickly realized the many conflicting effects that instant communication can have on relationships and on the way we use our time. In terms of communication, the rapidity with which we have access to people through WhatsApp and instant messaging seems to put me constantly on the edge. This is good ...
